Environmental Job Training Returns To Kansas City

Need a job? Looking for something new? Unsure of where to turn for the skills you need? Then check out the 2016 Construction GreenUp Program starting on February 1st in Kansas City, KS!
Metropolitan Energy Center and Kansas City Kansas Community College are working together to provide training in environmental remediation for up to 20 area residents. In less than two months, successful graduates will earn trades certificates in Lead and Asbestos Remediation, Hazardous Materials, First Aid, Forklift and Construction Safety. We also provide placement assistance, job readiness training and more.
There is no cost for the class, but admissions are competitive. Applicants must:
Be at least 18 year old
Have a HS diploma or GED
Pass a drug screen and respiratory fitness test
Be citizens or legal residents of the United States
Be currently unemployed or underemployed

Home Performance Training
Want to be a Home Energy Analyst? Now is the time. MEC is continuously offering dual-track training. Topics include:
- A business case for deconstruction
- Site assessment
- Deconstruction techniques and strategies
- Local permitting and licensing considerations
- Onsite demonstrations of a local project
The Metropolitan Energy Center provides building science training for contractors and auditors who want to participate in the following local and state programs:
- City of Kansas City Missouri Weatherization Program
- State of Missouri Weatherization Program
- KCP&L Rebate Program
The energy auditor training meets or exceeds the requirements and expectations of the Building Performance Institute (BPI) for Building Analyst and the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) for Home Energy Auditor (This class does not cover the mortgage and HERS Ratings-specific components of the RESNET Rater exam).
Attendees are required to attend the entire course. The cost for the 5-day training, the class textbook (Residential Energy: Cost Savings and Comfort for Existing Buildings), and the required written exam is $1050.00.
